To Honor Those on The Day of Valor
Wars. It’s not all about bloodshed. It may seem like a brutal word to say, but there is still beauty within its dark circle. In the art of war, there is a fight for love, freedom and peace. Though to acquire such means is to carry out dedication and savagery. To those brave souls whom died and sacrificed their lives, even those whom have survived such chaos for the freedom of our motherland, they deserve our outmost respect, for we owe them.
The Katipunan, officially known as Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalangang Kattupunan (KKK), was a Philippine revolutionary society founded by anti-Spanish Filipinos at Manila in 1892 - whose primary aim was to gain independence from Spain through revolution. The revolution against Spain was sparked in 1896 after Spanish authorities discovered the Katipunan. It ended in 1902, wherein Spain lost and ceded sovereignty of the Philippines to the United States.
It is to be said that the Katipunan served as an awakening call for the Filipinos to fight for their freedom. When they started, there were approximately 4,000 pioneer members. But as time passed by, it grew as much as 400,000 - a sign of how it thrived and awakened the nationalism within the Filipinos. Andres Bonifacio, a Philippine patriot, was the founder and leader of the Nationalist Katipunan Society, who instigated the revolt of August 1896 against the Spaniards.
